YEAR 25 / A SERIES OF UNFORESEEN EVENTS

Yesterday I turned the page on year 25. Naturally, I'm looking back and thinking about what this year held; what I did; what it all meant. My relationship to this work has been a little like friendship and a lot like falling in love. But not the kind of consuming love people refer to when chasing a grand dream or a burning passion. Instead, it was the "I choose you today" actions of love. "I think you and me could work well together, so let's make a go at it." Choice before feelings. I didn't expect to necessarily feel love for the work, or find it incredibly interesting, or be creatively satisfied. The beautiful surprise is that in this past year, the feelings have followed. I love my work so much more now than I did at the beginning.

The deeper in I get, the more I realize I have to learn and the more eager I am to do it. I've barely begun.

Postscript: I'm very excited about this set of photos in particular because they represent my first foray into shooting film, under the tutelage of my good friend and talented photographer Chris Isham, and scanned by Richard Photo Lab. I have a lot of ideas for year 26 and I hope to share many more of them with you in film!
